CHICAGO (AP) For a franchise that’s struggled with a host of injuries, the Blackhawks are hoping to avoid a repeat of the injuries that limited them to only seven wins in the past two seasons.
The Blackhawks’ first trip to Soldier Field since the start of the season is a must-see, and if the team can keep the focus on offense, it should have a solid chance to win this weekend.
Here’s a rundown of what to watch for.
Key Dates Sunday: Chicago hosts the Chicago Bears.
Tuesday: Chicago returns to Soldier Stadium.
Thursday: The Blackhawks host the New York Rangers in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Saturday: Chicago host the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of their first-round series.
Sunday: The Hawks host the Arizona Coyotes in the fourth round of a Western Conference playoff series.
Tuesday’s game at Soldier Field will mark the second time in the last two seasons the Blackhawks have played a game in the city where they won the Cup.
On Jan. 31, 2013, they defeated the Washington Capitals 7-3 in front of a sold-out crowd.
That game also was the first time they had ever played a home game in Soldier Field.
That was the last time the team played in the venue until this year.
The Bears won the Stanley Championship on Jan. 7, 2016.
The Hawks are coming off their third consecutive victory in their past five games.
Chicago was 2-0-0 in those games.
They are 2-2-0 against the Chicago Blackhawks in their last five home games.
The last time they played the Blackhawks in Chicago was Nov. 23, 2016, in the third round of an NHL playoff series between the two teams.
The previous two games have been the only games the Blackhawks won at Soldier Stadium in their four-year history.
Chicago’s last loss came on Nov. 24, 2013.
It’s the only time they lost a game at home since that date.
The franchise’s last home playoff loss came in the 2015 Eastern Conference Final against the Washington Senators.
It was the team’s first defeat in the series since they lost 5-4 to the Ottawa Senators in the Eastern Conference Finals on Feb. 18, 2016 and it marked the Blackhawks’ third straight defeat at home in their five-year postseason history.
The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals.
It marked their first loss in their first three games.
That came in a 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Jan, 21, 2017.
Chicago has won six of the past eight home games, including six of its past seven.
The only teams to have won six or more home games at Soldier Station are the Los Angels Angels of Anaheim, Anaheim Ducks and New York Islanders.
The team has won its past four games in Soldier Station.
Chicago is 7-1-1 against the Los Los Angeles Clippers and has outscored its opponents by a combined 2.00 goals per game.
The two teams have played in Chicago two other times.
The Bruins won in 2013, and the Blues won in 2009.
The Panthers beat the Blackhawks 6-2 in Game 6 of the 2015 Stanley Cup Final.
Chicago won 5-3, and won in overtime on the same night that it beat the Blues.
Chicago defeated the Detroit Wings 5-2 on April 9, 2010, and beat the Losers 4-1 in Game 7 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals.
