FOX 6 News Chicago Bears reporter Matt Walsh tweeted on Sunday that the New Jersey-based Times had fired his boss.
Walsh tweeted: “The New York @Times fired me.
I’m not even on the Times payroll anymore.
Walsh tweeted that he would have never gotten a job in the Times if he had been a white man.
“You can’t fire a reporter, you have to have a policy, and this policy has not been implemented,” he wrote.
“I’m not a white person, and I’ve never worked in the media.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t do my job and be effective.”
Walsh wrote that he had no interest in being fired.
He said that he will not return to work for the Times.
He also tweeted that the Times had not responded to his request for an interview.
The New York-based newspaper was founded in 1917 and is the largest newspaper in the United States.
The Times did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
