Donald Trump says he will resign as president if he loses reelection

Donald Trump will resign if he does not win reelection, the president said Wednesday.

Trump has said he will step down in the spring.

In a speech in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said he is ready to resign.

The president said he would not step down if the election is close.

He added he does plan to run for a second term if that is necessary.

He also said he had not yet spoken with former Vice President Mike Pence, whom he has been feuding with publicly.

Pence is expected to run again in 2020.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A week ago, Trump announced that he would end his campaign, saying he was leaving the country to spend more time with his family and work on his new presidential bid.
