It’s a move the 49ers are likely to make this offseason.
McElowain was hired in 2016 as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings after he was hired by the Washington Redskins as offensive coordinator in 2016.
He’s in his third season in St Pete.
He has a 6-8 record and is 2-5 overall in his first season with the 49er’s.
In his time in St Petersburg, McElweens teams have not made the playoffs, but his offense has improved each season.
His offense has scored a total of 1,074 points this season.
He is 2nd in the NFL in yards per game and has scored at least 20 points in three straight games.
